Yesterday I Was Clever
Hello and welcome to Drawn to DIY!
Last week, I posted a free habit tracker you and I could use.
Today, I'm sharing a quote from Rumi.
If you've been following the blog since it launched last May, you'd notice that I share weekly free printables every Monday and DIY projects every Thursday. You'd also observe that Mondays' quotes are usually motivational or encouraging and today is no different. In fact, today is actually my birthday so this post is quite special!
I've been pondering on quite a lot of things recently, one of which is self-improvement. So when I remembered this quote, I knew I just had to share it with you guys!
Yesterday, I was clever so I wanted to change the world. Today, I am wise so I am changing myself.
This quote reminds me to quit focusing on what's wrong with the world and instead focus on what I can do to help improve it. It's so convenient to blame others—parents, your situation, culture, etc.—but at the end of the day, blame won't get you anywhere because you'd be stuck in the past with things you can't change.
Even if a lot of things are out of your hands, you still have control over the most important thing in your life: your self. Being a successful person in whatever field requires thinking ahead and moving forward. So this is a good reminder to just focus on yourself, your attitude, what you can do, and what you can improve on.

Did you know that Rumi only started writing when he was 37 years old? This just proves that it's never too late to get started on your goals or dreams, no matter your age. This is also one of the reasons why I chose to design this printable with a cherry blossom wreath—they symbolize the fragility and shortness of life.

See you again this Thursday for a modern entryway DIY!
