I Must Be A Mermaid
Hi and welcome to Drawn to DIY!
Last week, I posted a free minimalist weekly planner sheet.
Today, I'm sharing one of my favorite Anais Nin quotes.
There's definitely an abundance of Anais Nin quotes over at Pinterest. Her writings are so universal that they speak to so many different people, whether they're bloggers, feminists, writers, or inspirational leaders. Here are some of them:
Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage.
The day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.
We do not see things as they are, we see things as we are.
I chose the mermaid quote for no particular reason except that it came to mind last weekend while I was at the beach. Since it's so easy nowadays to choose the easy way, take shortcuts, and skim the surface, so to speak, I love how this quote promotes living deeply and meaningfully—to question more, experience more, and think more.
I'm still learning brush lettering (as I've mentioned here) so I wrote this using a Pentel Aquash water brush and Dr. Ph Martin's Concentrated Watercolor in Juniper Green. It's actually pretty in person but not quite as a printable so I took an old beach photo of mine and created a clipping mask in Photoshop which instantly adds depth and interest. Don't you think so?

See you again on Thursday for a refreshing drink recipe!
